    KINSHASA Tuesday, December 30, 2008 (IRIN) - Tens of thousands of civilians have fled their villages in northeastern Democratic Republic of Congo after 189 people were killed in attacks blamed on the Lord?s Resistance Army, a Ugandan rebel group, according to the UN?s Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.

    NAIROBI Tuesday, December 16, 2008 (IRIN) - Congolese journalist and IRIN contributor Eddy Isango has won an award for a report about the sexual abuse of Congolese women deported from Angola. Isango, based in Kinshasa, won the prize for the best piece of reportage on a health issue in the inaugural Journalism for Development awards, organised by the Democratic Republic of Congo office of the UN's Development Programme (UNDP).
