APPG Chair Eric Joyce MP has tabled an EDM 1171 regarding atrocities committed by the LRA in Central Africa. The EDM signatures list may be found here, with the full text below. Please encourage your MP to sign it if they have not already done so.
UGANDA AND THE LORD'S RESISTANCE ARMY

That this House deplores the atrocities committed by the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) in Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Central African Republic and Sudan, which include the systematic rape and mutilation of civilians and the kidnapping and abduction of thousands of children and young people; condemns the failure of the Ugandan government and the international community to bring Joseph Kony and the LRA leadership to justice; believes that this failure constitutes a humanitarian disaster which destabilises the region; recognises recent legislation on the LRA passed through the United States Congress in the week of 7 December 2010; urges the Government to make similar commitments; and calls on the Government to support the demobilisation of LRA members and act on the UK's duty as a State Party of the International Criminal Court (ICC) to help arrest Joseph Kony and those members of the LRA subject to ICC warrants.

BANGUI 17 May 2012 (IRIN) - The Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR) process relating to former rebels in the Central African Republic (CAR) is back on track: More than 1,000 already disarmed fighters of the Popular Army for the Restoration of Democracy (APRD) led by Jean Jacques Démafouth began to be demobilized on 12-13 May.

MOGADISHU, 18 May 2012 (IRIN) - It is Friday morning in Mogadishu and Lido beach presents a scene reminiscent of seaside towns around the world. He invested in an early-maturing, high-yielding rice called Nerica (New Rice for Africa), which had recently became available and promised to fit in well with the erratic rainfall patterns.
