Shadow Secretary of State for International Development Harriet Harman MP attended the NGOs' lobby meeting “Tea Time for Change” on 9 June, where she delivered a speech on the UK’s commitment to international aid. Notably, the Shadow Secretary mentioned the need for enhanced transparency in extractive industries and gave her support to passing a Dodd-Franck style UK legislation requiring the publication of extractive companies' payments on a country-by-country basis. The full speech can be read here.
