We’re pleased to publish this report outlining the APPG’s activities during the period April 2010 - March 2011, to span the 2010-11 financial year. The period captured corresponds with the APPG’s financial reporting period.
Following the UK General Election in May 2010, APPG Members – both new and old – have remained actively engaged in the Group’s work. At the time of writing (March 2011), the Group contains 194 parliamentarians, 109 of whom are MPs and 85 of whom are Peers. More than thirty new parliamentarians have joined the APPG since the General Election, and the numbers rise each week as more parliamentarians attend APPG events, briefings and meetings.
The APPG re-elected seven new Executive Officers at our May 2010 Annual General Meeting. Eric Joyce MP (Lab) continues to chair the Group and we’re lucky to have a very active and enthusiastic cross-party Executive. You can see the list of our Executive Officers and full Membership list under the ‘Officers’ tab of this website.
The APPG is always looking for new partners to work with, both inside and outside of parliament. If your Group would like to get involved in our work, either providing briefing, hold meetings or contribute in other ways to our work, please contact the APPG Coordinator Sophia Pickles at pickless@parliament.uk

This document provides a summary of the activities of the APPG on the Great Lakes Region of Africa from April 2009 - March 2010. This period has once again been busy for the APPG, especially in light of May's General Election, we continue to be among the most active Groups in parliament with an expanding membership. This report covers formal parliamentary activity, details of formal correspondence, details of events and meetings, as well as operational issues.
Numerous routine activities have been omitted from this report for reasons of space – for example routine briefings for members of the APPG and our extensive informal contacts with civil servants and ministers. Links or attachments for a selection of meeting reports and other relevant documents have been included with this report: for further details please contact the APPG.
